Really disappointed with Stitch and Hide. I trusted their marketing and invested in the products due to their stated quality ethics as follows:
"At Stitch & Hide we challenge the concept of 'fast fashion' and unsustainable consumer practices. At every step, people and planet come before profit."
I purchased this wallet and after a few months of use the stitching around the card holders started to come undone. I contacted the company and the wallet was replaced. Fair enough - thank you. The second wallet is still going strong still.
The problem that came is related to purchasing another product - a bag. After less than 2 months of use the magnet clasp on the bag disintegrated.
Since the company had replaced the faulty wallet in the past, I was surprised to find that they would not replace the bag. I was given a $40 credit to repair the bag but this did not cover the cost and time taken to arrange this.
I raised this with the Department of Consumer Affairs in Australia and the company still did not replace the product.
The customer service provided regarding the faulty bag said that the way I had used the bag could not be verified. It is a shame that they did not take my word for it that I used the bag on a daily basis as would be expected when you purchase such a product.
Stitch and Hide is marketing their products as being high quality, sustainable and a long term investment. This is why I purchased them at a higher price point than what I would have spent otherwise.
I wanted to support a company that says they treat people well but I no longer trust anything said in their marketing and will not purchase from them again. Especially because it has now been 2 out of 2 products purchased that ended up being faulty.
